1. How long have you been quilting?

Hmm, I guess it was around 2004 that I started, so seven years.

2. How did you get started?

I was working at a crappy job, and a woman that I worked with (and I was friends with) quilted, and she brow-beat me into making a quilt. I've been a fine artist all of my life, but the thought of sewing brought back those awful days in school and Home-Ec....blah....so I asked my Mom to help me figure this quilting stuff out, and thus I made a quilt. Well, a quilt top. It was put into a drawer and never quilted. That is until I started my longarm business. It was the very first quilt that I quilted with my machine. It's the quilt in the first picture above. Needless to say, I am so happy that my friend talked me into quilting.

3. When buying fabric, do you buy what you need for a current project or do you buy it just because you like it, or it would go with your other stash?

I usually buy fabric for a project that I have designed out. Yes, there are times when the fabric reaches out and grabs hold of me and has to go home with me, but for the most part, it's usually what I need for a project (or four).

4. Do you stick with certain colours? Fabric lines (Moda, Hoffman, batiks)?

I used to stick to certain colours, but not so much any more. I see so many wonderful quilts come through my studio that my range of colours has expanded tremendously.

5. When making a quilt, do you stick to patterns from magazines, pre-written patterns that you purchased, quilt kits, or do you design your own?

I gave up on other people's patterns almost immediately, so I design my own quilts. It's easier for me and I know that there will not be another quilt like it out there in the world.

6. Do you finish a project before starting another? Or do you have multiple projects going on at once?

Who wrote these questions?.....oh, I did. Well, in my head, I finish a project before starting another, but that means that the quilt top is completely sewn and waiting for the longarm person to quilt it, and that can take quite some time for her to get to them.

But if you ask the question with "finishing" meaning completely quilted and bound, then no, no, I don't. I have about five (5) quilts that need to be bound, with another 18 waiting to be quilted.

7. UFOs? Got 'em? How many?

See No. 6....if confused, ask me at one of our meetings. :)

8. When sewing/quilting, do you have music playing, the t.v. on, or just love listening to the sound of the machine purring?

Music. Music. Music. As soon as I turn on the lights in my studio, I have my earbuds plugged into my ears and my mp3 player is cranking out the tunes.

9. What's your quilting style? Traditional? Modern? Arty?

All of the above. I don't really have a style, unless you call "eclectic" a style. What ever fits my mood when I'm creating.

10. If you had an unlimited supply of money, what item(s)/machine(s) would you buy for yourself (quilting related of course)?

Ahhh, let's see.....a quilt shop in State College. And a 2,000 square foot studio in my own home. A girl can dream.
