Message from the President

October President Letter

Hello Centre Pieces Members!

Just want to check in to say how wonderful it was to see everyone at last night's meeting! We had over 50 people attending, including 3 guests and a new member sign-up. This brings our total member count to: 121 members (as of today, 12 October 2011). Fabulous!

For those of you that attended, did you enjoy Cheryl Lynch's presentation? Wasn't it just great how she finds inspiration in her travels to Mexico and in the beautiful Mexican tiles that are everywhere in that country? The fact that she creates gorgeous quilts from those tiles is just the coolest thing ever. I know I've been known to look down at tile floors and see quilt designs, but now whenever I'm in Home Depot or Lowe's, you can bet that I'll be over at the tile section checking out the painted tiles. Or even better, since I'm more of a modern quilt design gal, I just might check out various bathroom or kitchen tiles in magazines or online for inspiration. The possibilites are endless!

We still have our Daytime Meeting today at 12:30pm at Brookline if you happened to miss Cheryl's talk last night, you can still come by and hear/see her today.

If I don't see you at today's meeting, I hope to see everyone at next month's meetings.
Tracey Kennedy

September President Letter

Greetings Quilters!

Another wonderful Guild year is ready to kick-off next Sunday at our first meeting; I hope everyone is geared up and ready to have some fun!

We have a great new Executive Board this term, and to get to know them (myself included) a little better, I wrote up 10 simple quilting related questions and had every one answer them for us. If you click on the names below, you will be taken to each person's answers. There are even some quilt photos included with a few of them.

Our new Vice President's came up with a great survey for guild members to fill out. We will have copies at the Sunday, September 11th meeting for members to fill out, but if you would like to get a jump-start, please feel free to download and print a copy and bring it along with you to the meeting. The more information we can gather, the better we can serve our members now and in the future.

Also, I hope that everyone will take a good look around the "new and improved" website that I've set up over the Summer. I have tried to make it clean and simple for everyone to be able to find things. If you have any problems with links, downloading forms, seeing pages, etc., please let me know right away, and I will correct the problems immediately.

Also, if you have any information that you would like to have on our Guild Website, please send me that information right away and I'll get it posted.

You will see in the menu bar on the left-hand side, that I've put a link/page called "Patchwork Pantry." While I was looking over all of the information that was passed on to me after the June picnic, I found a copy of the cookbook that guild members created and produced back in 2005. As I flipped through pages after pages of recipes (and my stomach started growling), I thought it would be fun to take a different recipe from the cookbook and put it on the website each month. Be sure to check out that page for fantastically, yummy recipes!

One last item: I'm still looking for volunteers for our "Spotlight Quilter of the Month" series that I'd like to have for our Guild this year. If you take a look at the 10 questions that were asked of the Executive Board, well, those are the questions that I would like you to answer when you become Quilter of the Month. There's a little more to volunteering, but I'll get more into detail at our first meeting.

I'm all out of words for now, but don't worry, I'm sure I'll be a rambling fool at our first meeting next Sunday!

See you then!
Tracey Kennedy
