CPQG represents at Grange Fair!

Why enter quilts in the fair?

  • We are proud of what we do.
  • It inspires others and may just be that final motivation for a new quilter.
  • It contributes to the beauty of the fair, and provides quilters and non-quilters alike to enjoy diverse and beautiful creations.
  • It supports the fair as a community events - and helps ensure that these types of displays continue.
  • It helps carry on a long tradition of sharing our art with the world!

Highlights from Wednesday 8/20 gathering

Ellen Campbell, "mother" of Scraps and Skeins, spent some time with the guild exhibiting the technique of slow stitching this past Wednesday. She shared some samples of the work she has done over the past several years and all I can say is 'wow'! Many of the fabrics and adornments she found at Scraps and Skeins. I'm wondering if her talk prompted any of our members to visit Scraps and Skeins the next day?! You just might have seen me there!

Check out some photos of our Wednesday gathering and thank you Becky S for the photos!

Eye candy from August 12th meeting

We had loads of fun at our Tuesday evening meeting. We learned A LOT about Riley Blake designs and their various fabric lines. We heard about new and unexplored (by many of us) fabric shops in Pennsylvania*

We also had so many show n' tell quilts to ooh and aaww over! Check them out!

Quilting open house at the 'Y'

Oh my goodness! A plethora of quilts!

Thank you Carol B and Becky T for organizing the showcase of quilting at the State College YMCA this past Thursday (8/14). There was representation of every type of quilting from strip piecing to stack n' whack, machine quilted to hand quilted, as well as the steps involved in each.

Several people visited to view the quilts and talk to guild members. I'm sure that Becky  or Carol will fill in the details at our next meeting. Perhaps there will be a few new members!

Echoes of History

https://kariroslund.com/grove-farm-residency/
Juniata College Museum of Art on the corner of 17th St and Moore has an exhibit of the pieces by Kari Roslund of Mount Union.  Her beautiful and unique quilted pieces are awesome and hard to adequately describe.

Check out this link to her website:  https://kariroslund.com/grove-farm-residency

Her exhibit runs through August 22 (just 3 more weeks) with very limited museum hours. So, treat yourself to a special experience and stop by the JC Museum.. (Wed and Thurs 1 to 6 pm, Fri 11 am to 3 pm).
