Questionnaire

To our valued CPQG members,

As I am sure you are aware Centre County is moving into the "green phase" of Covid-19 mitigation on Friday 29th May 2020.  This enables us to consider meeting again as a guild subject to following the relevant PA and CDC guidelines on social distancing, masks, hand sanitization, etc.  In the light of this, the executive board has put together a brief, anonymous, online survey to gauge the views of our membership on how to move forward over the next few months, it also includes the opportunity to nominate candidates for open Executive Board positions.  We would be very grateful if you could take just a few minutes to answer this before June 2 and provide us with any further feedback if you wish.

Centre County Recycling Center has asked for 100 face masks.

From Claire Amick:
Centre County Recycling Center has asked for 100 face masks. I  will gladly coordinate, collect, and bring to the Center.

I did ask if they preferred elastic instead of ties and the answer is yes.  If anyone needs a pattern, I'll gladly pdf the one I've been using.  I've attached a picture of this pattern.  I've also been putting lightweight non-woven interfacing inside and have also tried light fusible interfacing in a few to give extra protection.

They are also not fussy about using one solid color for all.  When I mentioned that I've been using my quilting fabric in various and assorted colors and prints.....no problem, that would be fine.  In the picture attached, the mask with the red hearts is the one made with elastic -- it has three folds and opens up for good coverage.

ps -- We could consider this as payment for all the times we've used the Interpretive Center over the years.

Why the best material for a homemade coronavirus face mask is hard to identify

"The internet is exploding with mask-sewing patterns and advice on which materials are best to use, but many unanswered questions remain about how exactly SARS-CoV-2 spreads and what benefit widespread wearing of nonmedical masks may offer individuals and the public. Because of the inherent variability in household materials, mask design, and mask-wearing behavior, experts caution that the practice is no replacement for social distancing." Read more here.

CPQG elections

It's almost election time, CPQG elections that is.  It happens every June and it's not rocket science.
From the By-Laws:  Officers shall be elected and assume their duties at the June meeting for a one-year term.
  1. The President shall preside over Guild meetings and Executive Board meetings.
  2. The Vice President(s) shall coordinate programs for Guild meetings.
  3. The Secretary shall record the minutes from Guild Board meetings, Executive Board meetings, and record any results of votes taken at combined meetings.
  4. The Treasurer shall record the dues and pay bills approved by the Executive Board.
We need a Nominating Committee to run the election.  Please gather a friend and volunteer by contacting our current president, Lizzy.  Friends helping friends can insure this quilt guild continues and we have a group to stitch with.
