December Joint Meeting

December 8 (Sunday) – (NOTE CHANGE FROM PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED DATE and TIME) Christmas Joint meeting from 3:00 to 5:00pm at the University Club, 331 W College Ave, State College, PA 16801 · (814) 237-6576.  Parking is located in the rear of the building and there is an entrance in the rear of the building.  Carpooling was suggested. The board agreed to have it as a potluck.  Paper supplies will be provided by the guild. Kitchen facilities are available.
Claire Amick will chair the ornament exchange. The ornament must be handmade but not necessarily by you.
Cindy Rutschky will supply the silent auction bid sheets. The money raised from this occasional auction will support the general fund.  Party supplies, insurance, Membership Book printing, post office box rental, and rental fees for the Middle School Library are some of the bills paid for from this fund.  We raise money at this auction so we don’t have to raise dues.
Sew, what to bring?  Your check book or cash.  What to donate to the silent auction?  Serviceable but used quilting gadgets or tools that you don’t need; stash fabric; books and magazines that have served you well but…; beautiful objects from other hobbies/passions/talents (quilt blocks painted on Christmas Tree balls or gourds or a mirror or a barn quilt.  What part of quilting do you enjoy THE MOST?  If it’s binding, perhaps you could donate 300 inches of binding service.  If it’s FMQ, perhaps you could donate a 1 hr fmq lesson.  Sew many options; be creative as you consider what your Guild means to you.
Unless you pick up your unsold donations immediately after the party, they will make their way to Scraps and Skeins.

November Meetings

The day has been moved to Nov. 13 to accommodate the Transfer Station's schedule.  We'll meet as usual from noon to 1:00 for social time and a brief business meeting and then enjoy the members' trunk show led by Barb First and Susan DeMetrick.

Evening Meeting: Joyce Robinson, Assistant Director, Palmer Museum of Art will be joined by Julia Kasdorf, a poet and professor in English, to highlight an upcoming exhibition, Field Language: The Painting and Poetry of Warren and Jane Rohrer, that includes modern abstraction and Amish quilts.
Warren and Jane Rohrer were raised in the Lancaster area as Mennonites and eventually went out into the larger world to pursue their art. The exhibition will have two examples of quilts that proved inspirational for both Rohrers.
Join us at the Mt Nittany Middle School Library at 7:00 for our brief meeting and this extraordinary lecture on November 12.
