Starting THIS  month, March 9, 7:00 Join us on Zoom. Cynthia from Stitch Your Art Out will provide us with a glimpse into how Zoom classes work.  We’ll have time for some sharing, chatting, and general catching up.  Join us at the link that is on the program page of this website and put these regular Guild meetings on your calendar.

Tuesdays via Zoom (UPDATED LINK)

Every Tuesday 11:00-noon we’ll have a show and tell Zoom session. This is to help those of us who have very little experience with Zoom get comfortable. If you need some individual help getting it set up contact Becky at rebeccatrunzo@yahoo.com. Take a picture of your show and tell; put it on your computer desk top in a place you can get to easily.  We’ll use use the Zoom share feature.

We have scheduled 6 meetings, hoping that by mid-April we can meet in the park again.  If not, we’ll schedule more Zoom.

Bring disinfecting wipes, and whatever sewing you want to do.  There are electric outlets around the room.  Each person has an 8’ table to herself.  We wear our masks and stay physically distant from each other, and of course, we monitor our own health. Some of us have even had the vaccination.

2020-2021 Centre Pieces Quilt Guild Challenge “My Town” Musings from Karen Powers

I’m stuck.  In 1968, my family moved from Allentown, PA to Essex Junction, VT.  My dad accepted a new job with IBM and I was going into my sophomore year of high school.  Big changes! But this small town is where I graduated from high school and met my husband of 45 years. How do I represent this 1968 village in a quilt?

In rows?

In a circle?

Realistic, primitive, wonky?

Outside looking in or inside looking out?

What colors should I use?  For Vermont, should I use fall or winter colors?

Lots of decisions!

Here are some links to quilts I found on the internet that have wowed and inspired me.  I hope you find some inspiration in these links as well.

Also search online fabric stores using keywords such as town, city, village, landscape, farm, beach, mountains, or lake to see representative fabrics.

Google or check Pinterest using the same keywords above adding “quilt”. For example, village quilt or beach quilt.

We are all looking forward to seeing your challenge creations later this year!

Zoom me to the moon. Let me play among the fabric...

Isn't that how the song goes?

Leslie Demmert is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting. This is a Centre Pieces/QBs catch-up time.  If you want to “Show and Tell”, please take a picture of your quilt.  Save it to a window, PowerPoint slide, Word doc, or some other easily accessible format.  We will then share through Zoom’s “share screen”.  Have trouble with Zoom?  Never done it before?  Don’t understand?  We were all in that boat not so long ago.  I’ve only ever done 3 Zoom sessions, so I’m no expert.

Tuesdays, 11:00. No reservation needed. Use the same link, meeting ID and Passcode each week.  If you don’t have Zoom installed, clicking on the link below will take you to the main Zoom site; click on the link to take you to the meeting..

Topic: Practice so we can start having meetings. Do we want to purchase our own CPQG license so we can have meetings for longer than 30 min at $150/year?   If we purchase our own license, who can volunteer to be an admin to share duties?

Needle Knowledge

Who knew so many different kinds of needles are made for home sewing machines. Ever heard of a spring stick needle"? Schmetz website is well worth reading.
