Unloved fabric finds friends at the 3rd Wednesday afternoon at the YMCA

We spread out all over the small gym at the Y.  We used the floor as our design wall as teams of 2 or 3 chose orphan blocks and selections of donated fabric to build 50"x 60"quilt backs. If you have a WOMBAT (Waste Of Money and Batting) or just a UFO that might match the size of one of these that you would like to donate, please see LenoreC. 11 quit backs finished, 50”x 60”-ish; many people went home with almost-dones and some people even went home with a pile of fabric to continue the scrappy fun..

Wednesday Daytime Meeting - February 15 - Unwanted Fabric

1 PM at the State College YMCA

“Give us your lonely, your orphaned blocks, your wrinkled masses of fabric yearning to be part of a quilt. Free them from the big Rubbermaid tub you have in your basement….

We know you have them! We want chunks of fabric you will never use from your “What was I thinking” bin, no smaller than 8 in squares and any sized orphan blocks. We will be planning, designing layouts, pressing, cutting, pinning, packaging…. We will have a few machines to start putting things together…..we have some charity projects coming up.

Bring: Yourself and your unwanted fabric- we will supply the rest. Barb Z is our lead on this project.

YMCA Auction

We have met at the YMCA for most of our face-to-face progams this year.  In recognition of their generous donation to us (i.e. rent-free space), we have been asked to donate to their Spring fundraiser auction which will be held at the end of March at the Y on Whitehall Rd.  Please check your stash and UFO pile for quilted and other handmade objects that you can finish quickly as well as your closets for new/in-box/with tags gifts you are never going to use.

Please use this tag so the Y staff knows who donated and how much your item is worth. Becky and Leslie will receive your donations any time or you can drop them off at the Y at our February 15 day meeting.

Tuesday Evening Meeting - February 14 - ZOOM - Happy Valentine's Day!

Favorite Tools and How You Use Them

Show us what tool you can’t quilt without, what tool you’d give up chocolates for, or what tool you’d rather have than a dozen long-stemmed red roses. Cynthia Spencer, owner of Stitch Your Art Out, agreed to participate. You won’t want to miss her selection of new toys tools. This is a member-participation program. Don’t be shy.
