2018 - 2019 Orphan Block Challenge

2018 - 2019 Orphan Block Challenge
It was so much fun to see all the different shape-shifting and reincarnations of the original orphan blocks.  There were originally 24 orphan blocks and 18 people showed their final creations during the June guild meeting reveal.  If the orphan block you handed in wasn't shown that's because the receiver didn't finish their project.  Those 6 people still have time to finish.  Show your challenge project at the September guild meeting and I will then let you know whose original block you received.
Please click here and scroll down to see the results. (Carrie Fala)

December Auction

Even though we skipped our auction fundraiser in 2018. make plans now to attend an donate to help fund your Guild.  Crafty items with quilty references are always welcome.  How about a barn quilt?  (I'd love one.) Maybe you (or someone you love) paints gourds and could put some quilt blocks on some small ones. Or maybe you have an embroidery machine and can make quilt labels. Maybe you have a stash you know you aren't ever going to use.
Be as creative as we know you are. Just don't put your treasures in such a safe place that you can't find it in December.

International Quilting Day

A thought by Mavis Reynolds a quilter from British Columbia...
Mark this date and let this go viral in the quilting community worldwide...
In my little corner of the world I have started a wave. On March 21, 2020 it is International Quilting Day. In my city of Victoria, BC i am organizing the local quilters to celebrate by hanging quilts outside. Let’s share our passion and create some curiosity along the way. If you’re interested mark down the date. Let’s make this go viral. Let’s make the world a little brighter and a little warmer. Let’s see how far this spreads. It’s not an organized event. It’s organic...each one tells one and I’m sure it will spread like wildfire.
