Calling all Community Service Sewists

Polly Miller is organizing a Sausage Pillowcase sew-in at QBs on August 27.  Bring your machine and regular sewing supplies.  If you have width of fabric kiddy cotton, bring that too.  Polly has kits made up so join the fun that makes a hospitalized child or teen a little happier during the holidays. Find directions here.
Each pillow is made with three long, straight hems and neutral thread.  We need to have two or three ironing stations set up. If you can bring an iron and mat, that would be great!  Polly will bring a cutting mat and rotary cutter.
These pillowcases will be given to sick children in the Philadelphia area.  Leon Hoover’s young daughter was given one when she was in the hospital. Katie Scalise has been my inspiration for this.
The pillowcases will be washed before they are sent.

Joyce's Yarn Stash

You don't have to be just a quilter.  You can knit and crochet, too.

Unlimited Treasures 2
3013 Benner Pike, Bellefonte, PA 16823
Hours M-F 10-6 and Saturday 10-4

Joyce has decided that there are some yarns she is never going to get around to knitting and it's time to place them in good homes. Judy Ray visited the shop (nestled in the far back of the Unlimited Treasures). It's small but has some amazingly beautiful yarns and at at least half price. Well worth the stop. AND she keeps adding more and more.

Fiber Art by Susan Ball Faeder

To friends and clients near and far: After 30 years in business teaching quilters about Japan through the vehicle of textiles, tours, teaching, and vending, I am happily shifting gears to focus on making my own artwork.

Please join me in celebrating with a solo exhibit of my new work that includes sashiko, quilting, weaving, and fiber collage -  here in my hometown of Lewisburg, PA, for the entire month of August.

Semstresses against plastic bags project

Micaela Amateau<mxa17@psu.edu> is a former art professor at Penn State who is fighting plastic bag use. She is inviting all crafty sewers to design and make unique large cloth shopping bags that will be distributed to the public this fall.
She'd like to get many bags made by end of summer and then have students work on this in early Fall to be distributed before the holidays.
September 6/7th we will have a display/auction at Lemont Art Alliance to publicize the program
Please contact Micaela directly if you are interested in making grocery bags.
