Quilter's Hall of Fame

Field Trip opportunity about the history of quilting in Marion, Indiana

CPQG elections

It's almost election time, CPQG elections that is.  It happens every June and it's not rocket science.
From the By-Laws:  Officers shall be elected and assume their duties at the June meeting for a one-year term.
  1. The President shall preside over Guild meetings and Executive Board meetings.
  2. The Vice President(s) shall coordinate programs for Guild meetings.
  3. The Secretary shall record the minutes from Guild Board meetings, Executive Board meetings, and record any results of votes taken at combined meetings.
  4. The Treasurer shall record the dues and pay bills approved by the Executive Board.
We need a Nominating Committee to run the election.  Please gather a friend and volunteer by contacting our current president, Lizzy.  Friends helping friends can insure this quilt guild continues and we have a group to stitch with.

Masks for catching dust and Covid virus spray

Everyone, it seems, has an opinion and a pattern.  Check out craftpassion and 1 Million Masks. Here's one with lots of explanation of why this is best by a retired medical professional. Even Jenny Doan has a tutorial. Some are safer than others.  Coffee filters and paper towels do not provide protection from this virus. Two layers of high-quality cotton and iron-on interfacing may be good enough for you, but probably not protective enough for front-line health care workers.
Let us know if you have other favorites and what you do with your masks.

*****It's important to communicate with the recipient of your mask project before you make them.  Each hospital/Dr office/nursing home/rehab center etc has its own specifications which may or may not conform to the CDC requirements.

March DAY meeting Cancelled

Regrettably due to the current COVID-19 situation and in light of Governor Wolfe's most recent announcement, this Wednesday's CPQG day meeting is canceled.  We will inform you of the plans for April at the beginning of next month.

Your CPQG Board is hoping that you all stay well and have sufficient fabric stash to keep you busy during this time.  If anybody needs any help with supplies, whether food or fabric related, please contact one of the board and we will do our best to arrange some help for you. We are looking forward to meeting again in healthy times.

International Quilting Day

A thought by Mavis Reynolds a quilter from British Columbia...
Mark this date and let this go viral in the quilting community worldwide...
In my little corner of the world I have started a wave. On March 21, 2020 it is International Quilting Day. In my city of Victoria, BC i am organizing the local quilters to celebrate by hanging quilts outside. Let’s share our passion and create some curiosity along the way. If you’re interested mark down the date. Let’s make this go viral. Let’s make the world a little brighter and a little warmer. Let’s see how far this spreads. It’s not an organized event. It’s organic...each one tells one and I’m sure it will spread like wildfire.
Are you interested??

Patchabilities of the Month from Frye's Sewing

We are pleased to announce that Frye's will be participating in the POM Mystery Program this year:
If you aren't quite sure what "POM" means; let me help you out! POM simply means Patchabilities Of the Month.  It is a 12 month program that begins march 2020. Each month's new mystery POM will be released by the 15th of the preceding month. (For example, Aprils POM will be released by March 15th). With the POM Mystery kit in hand, your project can easily be completed within one day. Each kit will include everything you need to complete your project; (corresponding fabric, batting, buttons when applicable, & patterns). As I stated previously our 1st Mystery POM will begin in March 2020  with the first release on February 15th into the "Patchabilities Basket"
