We've had two months of very successful meetings at Cobble Creek Condo Clubhouse thanks to LynnS. In September we learned to do Missouri Star Quilt Company's (MSQC) Quartered Stripes with BeckyT as our leader. October was another MSQG pattern, Charms on Point, with FranH as our leader. Part of the fun of this format is the interactivity, even thou we aren't sewing, and the focus on one theme. Both patterns allowed for wonderful creativity and exchanges of ideas and elaborations. Who says Charms on Point has to be done with 5" squares. Try it with 1.5" or 8" squares for variety, Who says Stripes has to be 10" squares on 11/4 yds of 40: wide fabric? Try it with a tiny bit, line up your stripes, and fold in fourths for a mug rug. or maybe you'd prefer 12" squares because you have 2 yards of stripes you'd never use.
We took a vote and decided we'd rather play with fabric and hear and see what our friends have done than listen to a business meeting. All Guild business is posted on the website and in the newsletter. Any votes may be done by absentee ballot. We also decided to look into carpools for those who don't drive at night but would like to come to evening meetings. That's a work in progress. We also decided that the day meetings should be from 1:00 to 3:00 since the whole thing is very social. In addition, we decided that we should meet all 12 months with any weather cancelations posted to the website 2 hours before the start. For a non-business meeting, we covered a lot of business.
November's meeting will be led by Judy Ray and will highlight her creativity. In December, we will explore borders. Each attendee is asked to bring a favorite border sample, finished or in progress. More on both in the November newsletter.
All Guild members and potential members are invited to the 3rd Wednesday group meetings. No reservations are needed.
