I hope that everyone had a restful and pleasant holiday season! I hope that we are all ready for 2026! Here are two reminders of things going on this year:
Annual Luncheon
We only have one meeting in January and that is the January 14 CPQG's annual luncheon. It is being held at Honey Baked Ham in the little strip mall across from Hills Plaza and below the S. Atherton Sheetz. The restaurant will open to our group at 11:30 am. Becky T can take orders until Tuesday Jan. 6th. She will be attending QB’s if you have an order form for her (she will also have hard copies with her). Please RSVP to Becky T if you are planning on attending but are not pre-ordering. An accurate count of attendees will help ensure that there is adequate seating.
Remember if you didn’t order a boxed lunch or you want additions to what you ordered you can do so at the restaurant the day of the luncheon. If you ordered a boxed lunch and want a drink (soda, tea, etc.) they are available the day of the luncheon and that cost will be added at checkout.
CPQG Quilt Challenge
How is your progress on this year's quilt challenge? This year’s challenge is all about sparking creativity, trying new designs, and strengthening the friendships in our guild. Each participant will receive a quilt block chosen by another member. Your mission is to transform that single motif into a finished quilted project, to be revealed at next year’s picnic!
Create! Your challenge is to make a quilted project with the block you drew, to be revealed at next year’s picnic. Knowing who submitted the block will be a fun aspect of revealing the finished projects. Have fun, stretch your skills, and support one another! Ask the member who submitted your block why they chose it, if it is their favorite, if they have made anything using it, or if they have any tips in working with it.Requirements• Block Usage: Minimum: The assigned block should be the focal point of the project. True spirit of thechallenge: Aim for 100% usage of the block.• Final Product: Anything quilted is welcome! Quilts, wall hangings, table runners, pillows, totes, coats, placemats, etc. It should be layered, quilted, and bound/finished. (Unquilted tops are also fine for quilts.)• Enhancements: Sashing, borders, setting triangles, etc. are all great!• Variation: Creative interpretations are encouraged! For example, a classic Log Cabin could become aWonky Log Cabin.
