CPQG Interest Groups

Most of these groups meet weekly to provide members with an opportunity to socialize, work on your own projects, trade ideas and books, and even arrange/take field trips (aka fabric buying expeditions). Many of these groups meet in member's homes and spaces may be limited. Centre Pieces encourages members to form new friendships or interest groups when the need and inclination arise.
Check your Greenbook for contact phone numbers and/or emails.

Toys for Tots
DOLL QUILTS NEEDED
Please note that Doll Quilts for Toys For Tots are still in need. We received the following email from Donna Weller this week:
“We would love to have some quilts. In the past we matched the smaller quilts with a doll or medium size stuffed animal. The larger quilts we sent out as baby blankets with an infant toy.
I know they are appreciated as I have had people tell us how much they love them.  Any way you can help us out would be greatly appreciated . As for the size if you could make some for dolls and some larger ones that we can send out as blanket would be fantastic.  Thanks for doing this for us.
Donna Weller”
Sizes requested:
24”square
 36”square
36” x 60” crib size

A  doll quilt workshop is planned for  Tuesday, October 22nd, 2019 at St. John UCC Boalsburg from 9:30 a.m. till noon. Donations of large yardage materials 28” square, 40 “ square and 40” x 64” are needed (no scraps please). We will be using this donated material to make kits that will include batting for the workshop. Donations may be given to Jill Wisniewski (814-237-0167) or Debbie Barrick (215-738-7929) any Tuesday at QB’s or give us a call and we’d be glad to pick up your donation.
If you are making doll quilts at home please note that quilts made with flannel, front and back, do not require batting. Baby quilts may include batting. Minimal quilting, bright colorful fabrics and nursery fabrics are best suited for these quilts.
Thanks to Peggy Reed for the donation of a roll of batting for these quilts.
Thank you in advance for supporting Toys for Tots in Centre County through your guild.

Operation Shoebox
For a number of years, members have made stockings that are sent to the Operation Shoebox headquarters (check out their website directly to learn more about the organization or see how you can help). These stockings are then filled and distributed to military troops around the worked during the holiday season. For the coming year, Operation Shoebox has requested that we make Ditty Bags since they can be distributed throughout the year. There is also a need for crocheted skull caps for troops to wear under their helmets. For more information about this charitable opportunity, please contact Claire Amick.
Directions for both projects are provided here:
