Summer Membership Meetings

Our Summer Membership Meetings will be held at Orchard Park (1060 Bayberry Dr. off Blue Course Drive) under a pavilion (unless the weather is exceptionally horrible in which case we’ll Zoom.)  We will not serve food or drinks; we will mask-up and we will abide by current social distancing rules.  Please bring a chair.  This park has flush toilets and close by parking.  We plan to be finished in time to drive home while it is still light. Programs will be announced later.

Planning Meeting

 May 24 12:30 at Good Day Cafe.  Agenda TBD but will include summer and fall membership meetings, increasing membership, and other items.

All CPQG members are welcome.  Bring a chair and your ideas.  We'll be outside but undercover in case of rain.

May Membership Meeting

  Join us for the last Zoom meeting (for a while) on May 11 at 7:00pm 

Carla Klop learned to quilt by hand around 1976 and for the next 30 years completed a quilt per year. It was not until discovering the rotary cutter, that her ideas went wild. She developed shortcut methods to speed up her time. These methods are now published in a binder along with patterns and tips.

Carla has created 100+ patterns, many which use her techniques. She has been published 4 times in the American Quilter magazine and has had featured patterns with some of Northcott’s fabric collections. 

In this hour long presentation, Carla shares the accidental path she took to go from Quilter to Designer. She has many quilts to show, all created over the past few years.

Elections will be held at the June meeting.  Nominations from membership will be accepted until June 1.  Absentee ballots may be sent to Lynn Springer until 5:00 PM June 6. 

April 27 Show and Tell at Spring Creek Park

  Bring a chair and a mask and something to show how productive you've been.  See you there, 10:00-noonish.

Masked Quilters: 2 meetings in May Cancelled

 May 20 and 27 the Mall Community Room will be closed.  We'll have to cancel our Masked Quilters on those 2 days.

April Membership meeting

 Last night's Zoom through members' sewing studios was fun, informative and only available on Zoom.  The program, produced by Karen P and Becky S and directed by Sue Y and Becky S, starred Fran H ,Joyce S,  Karen P, Barb Z, Lynn S, Sue Y, Becky T. 

The presentation was so successful and  inspiring there is talk of doing a part 2, perhaps in January or February when we don't meet in person due to weather concerns.  Start thinking of what part of  YOUR studio you can share. Special or unique tools, racks to keep thread, rulers, and feet in their handy places, and pattern corralling ideas, for example,. are struggles for many of us.  How can you help?

If you missed the meeting, watch the presentation here but understand that most of the brilliance was that the studio owners talked us through our visit.

Tuesday Show and Tell

Zoom meetings links are below for April 20 and 27 with decisions to be made on Monday before each date about actually holding Zoom. After April Show and Tell will move to all in-person Spring Creek Park.  If this summer sets up as particularly miserable with snow, hail, and hurricanes, we'll revisit.  Also if QBs is able to relocate to a suitable spacious place, we'll revisit.
