Because our new home for all regular meetings after June 14 will be the State College Branch YMCA, please refer to this page for weather cancellations for this branch. We probably won’t need to think about this for a while. We will continue the policy of posting here by 5:00 pm for evening meetings and 11:00 am for day gatherings if we need to cancel. We'll also try to send an email by those times.

New Committee: Youth Sewing Classes
Becky Trunzo, Lillyanna Faimon, Sue Younkin, Evie Younkin, and Josie Younkin are working with the YMCA and Schlow Library to explore offering youth sewing classes. Details are in progress, but we know they’ll need help. This is a hands-on class so mentors and extra hands and eyes will be needed.
The Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) requires individuals to obtain clearances to volunteer with children. It’s easy to do online. If you have lived in Pennsylvania for the past 10 years you do not have to do the FBI check. There is no fee for volunteers. Click here for more information. Sue Y will have her computer at QBs to help get these clearances.
This initiative will kick off at Schlow library in February on Sunday afternoons.

Destash Sale with OLV
Our Lady of Victory Catholic Daughters has scheduled a sale at the OLV Activities Center for June 10-11 (9-2 Friday/9-1 Saturday are the hours). They will "rent" out tables to our members for this sale. The fees are $15.00 for one day and $20.00 for two days for an 8' table space. They will advertise it as a crafts/fabric and yard sale, but of course, any advertising sellers can do among sewing friends is recommended.
Seller gets all money after paying table
rent. Guild gets nothing and takes no responsibility for anything. Becky and
Leslie will take names of interested sellers in May at all CPQG gatherings.
Full payment is required at set up. Checks made payable to CDA . After May 27
contact Pat Hubler 814-466-8712 to reserve your table.
Seller is responsible for setting up and
taking down according to OLV rules and restrictions . Setup is allowed on
Thursday, June 9th, time to be announced. Tear down cannot begin
before 1:00 p.m. on Saturday (unless special permission is given by Pat
Hubler).
Seller is responsible for setting prices
and collecting money. All yardage should
be marked with amount and price (a la Scraps & Skeins). Quilts, kits,
fabric yardage, precuts, and scraps, and sewing notions may be sold. Seller may split table with friends and
may sell for friends

Wednesday Daytime Meeting - 1 PM at YMCA-State College - May 18
This month we will be showing and discussing bags we have made. Bring any you have made, started, or bought the kit for to discuss & share, whether they are quilted or not. If you have been curious about making bags, come and learn! This informal discussion will provide an opportunity for questions and ideas to be shared.
