Making Zen retreat

 

Making Zen retreat is September 28 – October 2   retreat, hosted by Kate Ward of Zen Stitching. Making Zen is a five-day online retreat featuring 30 free workshop presentations from artists across the textile world. Each workshop is completely free to watch for 24 hours, which I love, and the whole event is always so beautifully organized. It has a wonderfully generous, feel-good atmosphere.

Looking for interested sewers!

 

If there is interest by any of our members to participate, Iris Mittendorf will be making chemo head scarves to donate to Shaner Cancer Pavilion.  In addition to the pattern provided by Linda Unger, Simplicity has a pattern for different styles and sizes (search: Simplicity S9300 Women's Headwrap, Turban & Hat Sewing Pattern, Sizes S-L ) :

Perhaps we can make this another focus of comfort covers.  Iris would be willing to donate 5 Simplicity patterns (she paid $12) if people do not want to purchase one.   

Shaner Cancer Pavilion’s only requirement is that each head scarf be individually bagged (zip lock bag).  Stickers on the bag or labels on the scarves would be fine.

Quilts in the Mill - October 16 & 17

 

Courthouse Quilters Guild is proud to present the 2026 Quilts in the Mill Show at Prallsville Mill, Route 29, Stockton, NJ 08559 from 9:30AM - 5:00PM both days. Please put Friday, October 16th and Saturday, October 17th on your calendar.

We will have over 150 handmade quilts on display. The show will be open Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., admission is $12. There is a discount when 10 or more tickets are purchased together, they are $10 each.

 Guild Dues: Guild dues are due before July 31.  The green book with member information will be sent to the printers in August for distribution in September. Checks can be made out to CPQG. The membership application is on the website.

Dues can be turned in Wednesday July 15, or at the board meeting Friday July 17.  Or, mail to PO Box 95, Boalsburg 16827

Freestyle Color Collage workshop - must act by July 15!

 The Courthouse Quilters Guild of Flemington is welcoming Carly Mul this month to teach a 2-day workshop on Freestyle Color Collage. She was recently featured on The Quilt Show. The workshop will be on July 18^th and 19^th , from 1 - 4pm each day. The cost of the workshop is $50 plus the required $16 kit (containing the fusible backing). Students will need to bring a large stash of scraps, focusing on either a warm or cool palette. The scraps don't need to be large, but you'll want a good variety of prints (no solids).  Images attached to this email.

This class is an advanced class for color collage. Students will learn not only how to make lines in color, but also how to connect them by blending fabrics. It's a way to learn how to work with colors using the collage technique. The class is very open and unrestricted as there is no specific pattern or design to follow. The flow of the colors will create a pattern.  During the class, students will work on their layout. No sewing machine is needed. I will guide every student in person and offer instructions on how to finish at home.  The result is an abstract art quilt. This is meant to be a wall-hanging on its own, or become part of a wall-hanging.

Carrie made her Card Trick block with rectangles instead of triangles.

Lenore adapted the Falling Star block to make the Big and Little Dippers.

Becky S interpreted the Delectable Mountains block.

Rachel made Cathedral Window blocks in a Halloween theme and dressed accordingly!

Becky T made Witch’s Night Out and added the shoes.

Nancy’s Children’s Delight kept growing!

Ann honored breast cancer awareness with Star of Hearts.
